It is said that one's real enemy is his own self, be it his past, or alter-ego. Often times, the conflicts between the facade and deep-personality are something one only battles within. Like the deep web, there are things that one can only access through excavation, that not in the slightest of thought would he wish that any of these to be aired to the world, one way or the other.
Or even in private - for Rome can never be truly rebuilt if it is still living on its glorious, but rather careless, disgraceful past. Troy, the city that was claimed to never be conquered, eventually fall to the hand of the Greek. I could never imagine that Priam, the then king of Troy, would ever want any of the disgraceful act by Paris, courting Helen, the Queen of Sparta, to be elaborated in great detail by Homer, and for thousand of years, remain a story to read and remembered.
Neither would Cleopatra wished that her passion with Antony would seal the fate of the Great Pharaohs of Egypt. Years earlier, never would the King of Persia ever imagined that his Queen would bear the child of his biggest enemy - Alexander. Said to be the greatest of all conquerer, dubbed as "The Great", he may deliberately wanted the world to remember every tiny detail of the event, for the war is won the moment such treachery happened.
The darkest strategy in the book of Alexander - capture enemy's weakest point (Queen) - capture the most precious house (Egypt) - do whatever neccesary - send a letter to the enemy-King :P Let the king go crazy for a year, and lose all his reasons. Grab a popcorn and watch, as the largest, mightiest Persian Empire, crumbled.
I'm not Persia, and despite being an avid fan of Alexander brilliant tactics, there are certain things that I would not do. But being "Alexandered" is the most painful lesson yet, and for it to happened in the most critical of time is unimaginable by any standards. The mixed emotion around what I have lost and what I may stand to lose may cloud my view on the bigger picture.
There are some truth in the story and many more exaggeration, but the damage is done, and it has hit me hard, or at least got me thinking on what may come next. It may be the greatest lesson in my entire 35 years of being, that, there is a price to pay for every little thing I did that I'm not proud of; I just would not know how I'll pay it until it is due. In the effort of burying some of these, I have forgotten that some of it were exposed too much that it has been excavated somewhere else, in the least expected way.
For what its worth, its a sign of greatness when the world starts conspiring against us. Time to buckle up, for the winter.is.coming!
You May ask, and shall receive. :)
