Progress

1. I am of the view that progress can be made only with collaboration 2. To collaborate effectively, we need to treat each other as equals, sizing up on strengths, appreciating the differences, and looking past imperfections. 3. Progress is often the by-product of a free country. Land of the free and home of the brave – a familiar phrase if you studied or lived/currently living in the USA. 4. I feel that Malaysia's biggest roadblock to progress is the superiority complex. We were taught at school and home that religion A is better than religion B, race A is better at business vs others, etc. 5. The air of superiority and social divide are obvious. Collaboration and unity are rather rhetorical than done; whatever is said remains superficial, concealing the dark side deeply rooted in our society. 6. The recent B&ssku event revealed a more resounding crack – our confirmation bias is so severe it may take decades to reset. 7. It used to be bad, then worsened, and is now dangerous....

May the force be with me

Automobiles may potentially be the single most influential invention of all time. Thousands of moving parts are synchronised to give the driver a precise yet satisfying moment. It is astonishing to think that behind the luxuries of one's leather-clad interior lies a complex ecosystem that gives you all the comfort one can once only dream of. But behind all these parts is a central control unit that precisely does all the calculations to the milliseconds, delivering sheer driving pleasure.  Take it up a few notches, and we may look at the most magical form of being ever bestowed on earth. Like automobiles, humans are also run by a central control unit, but mind you, it is hard to imagine how we run our bodies because nobody taught us how. Or was it?  That is how powerful our mind is. However, most of us may have used at most 5% of its potential. One needs to tap i...

Greatness come in pairs

And being able to appreciate their characters and complexities will effectively separate you from the rest. The upper echelon, as they called it.  However, these, how nice they may be, will not be able to extract their full flavour without pairing with something of a particular vintage. It can be a dry-aged beef or an 18-month-old cheddar cheese. Vintage helps emphasise their characters, which shall be the highlight to end a long week that could've otherwise turned into a careless Friday night - flushed and wasted. And hey, didn't the Dr say red is good for your heart and vintage cheese is good for your gut? It is the perfect recipe for a beautiful and healthy long life.  The world, as we know it, works on the same pattern. It is a complete system where different matter and energy co-exist. Despite centuries of evolu...
